Taryn Foshee, Miss Mississippi, 2006

Taryn is a 2003 honors graduate of Hillcrest Christian School in Jackson, Mississippi, where she was inducted into the Hall of Fame.

In 2007 she graduated from the honors’ program at Mississippi State University with a B.A. in Communication with an emphasis in public relations. At MSU Taryn was the recipient of the Hank Flick Outstanding Service Scholarship, a member of Chi Omega Sorority, president of Lambda Sigma Honor Society, the host of MSU OnAir, and the public relations chair for Greek Life.

After graduation Taryn accepted an internship position in the Corporate Communications department at CMT (Country Music Television).  While at CMT, Taryn gained valuable experience working with productions and events such as CMT Crossroads, the CMT Music Awards, My Big Redneck Wedding, and Can You Duet.

Taryn began participating in the Miss Mississippi Program in 2003 when she was a Non-finalist Talent Winner. She was a preliminary Talent Winner at Miss Mississippi 2004, 2005, and 2006. She was 2nd Alternate to Miss Mississippi in 2004 and 2005, and became Miss Mississippi in 2006. She ended her pageant experience with a finish in the top 5 at Miss America 2007. Taryn’s years in Miss Mississippi and her finish as 3rd Runner-up to Miss America has awarded her more than $60,000 in scholarship assistance.

Taryn continues to promote her platform of “Increasing the Quality of Life of the Mentally Challenged.” She and her family are deeply involved with SON Valley- a Christian, Assisted Living Community for Mentally Challenged Adults in Canton, Mississippi.

She has stayed involved in the Miss America system hosting and judging pageants. She hosted Miss Mississippi’s Outstanding Teen Pageant as well as numerous local pageants. Her judging experience includes the 2007 Miss Oklahoma’s Outstanding Teen Pageant and the 2008 Miss Alabama’s Outstanding Teen Pageant.

Taryn hopes to continue her involvement with the Miss America System hosting, consulting, and judging at the state level.
